Special Education/PPS

The East Haddam Public Schools Office of Pupil Services supports the district’s mission to develop a community of lifelong learners with a caring, competent staff dedicated to preparing productive citizens for our diverse society through a variety of services and initiatives. The office of Pupil Services ensures the provisions of a free appropriate public education for all East Haddam students age three through twenty one with a continuum of services and supports depending on the students individual needs.
In addition to ensuring the appropriate implementation of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA or IDEA 2004) and the associated state and federal regulations, the department of Pupil Services also is responsible for:

Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
Title II, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended
Safe School Climate Legislation (CT PA 11-232)
