Our youngest East Haddam students will see some fantastic updates to the Elementary School on the first day of the 2016-17 school year.
Over the summer, we have been very busy making the Elementary School a safe and welcoming environment. The most obvious update will be the parking lot and bus route improvements. No longer will parents worry about their children having to cross in front of buses to enter the school. The parent drop off area is now separate from moving traffic and the buses have a designated location away from cars and pedestrians.
In addition to the parking lot improvement, the school has a new roof and new efficient boilers. The ceiling tiles in both the 100 wing (which were removed for asbestos abatement) and the 200 wing are all new. The bathrooms in the 100 wing have new tiles and stall dividers.
Our thanks go out to the construction companies that are working hard to complete their work to make sure we can open the doors on time for the first day of school. Without question, the Elementary School custodial staff is doing an outstanding job working through the dust and construction to put all the classrooms back in order and cleaned. Our hats go off to them!
None of this would have been possible without the support of the community. Thank you for supporting our schools!
